Features
Does each teacher have to do their own assessments?
No it doesn't have to be done by individual teachers for their own class. One teacher can create an assessment for all classes that are scheduled to sit it.
Do I have to print the assessments or can the students do them online?
Research has found that students still perform better in maths when they write the answers on paper rather than use an online equation editor. This is why we have designed our platform to be printed, with space for students to complete their working. We do not have the option for online assessments.
Can I have questions as calculator free or calculator assumed?
Yes, you can choose the number of questions you would like to be calculator free and/or calculator assumed when you create your assessment.
Can I add my own questions?
Unfortunately we don't have the ability to allow you to add your own questions but this certainly something we are working on.
Education
I disagree with the marking. Can I change the result?
Yes, you can override the result if you disagree with the marking. You are provided the opportunity to review the marking and feedback after it has been marked by Acrux.
We use the Victorian 2.0 curriculum. Are your questions mapped to that curriculum?
We have questions mapped to all Australian curriculums for mathematics, including Australian Curriculum 9.0, Victorian Curriculum 2.0, NSW Curriculum 2024, West Australian 2026, South Australian 2026, and the current UK National Curriculum.
Are there questions of varying difficulty and marks?
Yes, when the assessment is created you choose the difficulty level of the questions. Some of the more complex problems have more marks allocated to them as they require more working.
Does Acrux work for primary schools?
Not today. Acrux is currently built for secondary maths (Years 7–12), where we're focused while we train our own models and work with our early-adopter schools.
Primary is on our longer-term roadmap — Year 6 is the natural next step, and we expect to support it once our handwriting models are robust enough for the variation we see at that level. Year 5 and below is harder: handwriting is still developing, and primary maths is taught by a single classroom teacher rather than a maths department, so the product itself would need to look different.
If you're a Year 6 teacher and interested in being part of an early conversation when we get there, drop us a line.
Security
How long is data retained?
Teacher and staff data is retained for the duration of the account plus 12 months. Identifiable student data is retained for the duration of a student's enrolment, or as directed by the school. Is Acrux being assessed under ST4S or equivalent frameworks?
Acrux Education is currently completing the ST4S (Safer Technologies for Schools) data sovereignty assessment, with submission planned for May 2026.
Do students interact with the platform directly?
No. Students do not create accounts or submit data directly. All student data is provided and managed by authorised school staff.
What privacy laws does Acrux comply with?
